Hey all, I want to bring in an English car. The thing is I am going to strip it down to turn it in to a track day car. Will I have to pay VRT or anything similar to it?

    Thanks

Depends if you want to have it street legal or not.

If you are going to tow it only to go to the track, I believe you do not need to. I stand corrected.

Track car - *never* on a public road - don't think you have to register it.

Provided you drive off the boat with it on a trailer (or you don't get caught from the dock to your house) then you should be fine I think.

But you'd never be legally allowed drive it on the road because you'd never be able to tax/nct it.
Insurance shouldn't be needed if you're gonna track it anyway?

Invest in a trailer if you don't already have one.

Thanks lads, it's only for the track. Have a trailer for it. I'm planning on stripping it out and adding a few things to it.

actually you strictly should VRT it...but the chances are you will get away without doing it.... dont come here complaining if they come knocking on your door looking for it in a few months....:D

Remember to declare it exported from the UK - or the DVLA will be after you for the UK road tax!
