    Ok purely hypothetical scenario

A brother and sister are left a 50/50 share in the freehold of a house in the UK

he lives in the UK and she lives in Ireland.

Brother wants to buy sisters half. They come to an agreement and brother wants to engage a solicitor to work on his behalf and requests sister to do likewise to complete transfer.

    What is the cost involved?

Should she get a solicitor in ireland or in the UK?

Is there any need for her to engage a solicitor at all as alot of the work was done when transferring the house into both names in the first place?

UK, or a firm here with a UK office. There are a few.

Depending on relations, one solicitor could probably do both. Costs on a scaled basis usually some percentage of the value of the conveyance/transfer.

I have done such transactions, using Jordans in London for the UK property. That firm acts as agents for other solicitors firms inside and outside the teh UK and are very efficient.

You need to watch the CAT situation here and equivalent legislation in UK.
