    Hi
I am going on holidays on Sat July 3rd and need passports for my 2 children. I was intending to use the Passport Express service which guarantees delivery in at most 10 working days.
However, with the recent strike, I'm wondering if this has caused a delay in the Cork passport office.

Has anybody used this service in cork in the last couple of weeks ?

    All help appreciated.

I applied by passport express (Cork area but I dunno does it get routed there or centrally) early May, it took a calendar month, so up to 20 working days to get the new passport.

It is currently taking up to 25 working days to process applications submitted through the Passport Express Service, the Northern Ireland Passport Express Service and Counter Services. Applications submitted through the ordinary post are currently taking approximately eight weeks to process.

Ok, thanks to everyone for the replies.
Looks like the safest thing is to go in with our travel tickets to be sure of getting the passports on time.

Also make sure the photographs are acceptable. We had to retake one of ours. I agree that it would be better if you went in personally, as one of the agreements to end the last dispute was that persons with travel tickets would be given priority over others.

Just to let you know, i applied for a renewal of my passport by express post on the 25th of May as i am due to fly out on the 23rd June. After checking my tracking number everyday it said they had received and registered my passport !! I rang them yesterday (cork office) to ask whether i'd have it back on time for next Wednesday to which he replied "not a hope" After telling him i was due to fly out next week he asked me to promptly fax through my travel/flight itinery and a cover letter, within the hour i received a call saying my passport was approved and i would have it in the post on Monday. So fingers crossed :o
