    Hi all,

Well I have been entrusted by my OH to organise our Honeymoon. We are getting married on the 30th Dec. so looking to head off on the 3rd or so of January. Now seeing I have done pratically nothing (typical bloke I here you say :D) I want to make this an unforgetable holiday and I'm thinking of Malaysia only problem is where to start :eek:

So what I'm looking for is what websites I should be looking up, has anyone been there before and where they went & what they thought of it and lastly is it safe?

    Thanks in advance :D

I would speak to gohop.ie, they are nice people there. But seeing as you are going during our winter, I'd be looking into going to the southern hemisphere (their summer), Safari in South Africa with a sun holiday thrown in maybe?

Thats cool i also go married on the 30th of dec and flew out the 3 rd of jan......... easiest way out of this is to go to trailfinders on dawson street , they will bring you through everything and if you have any preferences you can add in a stop or two at your own liking

Discuss with your missus what general theme she would like. You might want to spend 2 weeks lazing on a beach and eating and drinking to excess. That's my nightmare. You might like an adventure in India, but she might prefer to go somewhere more cosmopolitan. Just for example.

Get a rough idea of the kind of trip you'd like to take before you go booking anything. We went with trailfinders and can't recommend them highly enough. The cost of hotels was slightly more than booking it ourselves, but they got flight deals for us which I just couldn't match, they were nearly €1,000 cheaper.

It was also great to have all accomodation etc paid for and sorted and because it had been booked through a travel agent, all the hotels knew we were a honeymoon couple and treated us as such.

First of all, take out a map. Check the weather for the different countries you are thinking of visiting, although Asia in December / January is in their high season so you should be ok as it's not monsoon season then.

Discuss with your missus on what she would like as another poster said. The last thing you wanna do is organise this big adventure holiday say, and she just wants to lie on a beach relaxing, or vice versa.

Next decide on a country, and research it. Check flights, if you'll be staying in one area or flying to another part of the country.

Find your hotel, if you want luxury, a great place to start is:

    www.lhw.com
    or
    www.fivestaralliance.com

LHW has fabulous hotels, Five Star Alliance has a more broad range of hotels (LHW would be the more exclusive). That could give you an idea of nice hotels. Next go to TripAdvisor and research the hotels that you found on LHW or Five Star Alliance. Then you can see what location the hotels are in, and you could just list all the hotels in that area then, you don't need to just stick to those on LHW etc. Also remember the likes of Conrad / Hilton, Four Seasons, Six Senses, Banyan Tree, Mandarin Oriental, etc. will not be on those websites, chain hotels generally aren't but they are also usually five star.

Also remember to check what vaccinations you would need for visiting there and how much time in advance you would need to get them.

Hmm can't think of anything else right now, but that's what I generally do when I'm looking to go on holiday! Hope that helps.
