Looking for a garage space to use

    Hey

    Anyone have any good suggestions on how to rent / borrow a garage to work on my classic? I did have a look on the various property rental websites and the cost is very high. I heard some mention of asking a friendly garage whether you can use their facilities in off-hours; is this really a go-er?

    ...if you don't know them already, extremely unlikely.......too many issues with minding their stuff, tools, equipment, other cars......not to mention insurance, fire risk (what if you accidentally started one, say.....it happens....)

    I've heard of people knocking up some flyers and dropping them into houses with garages attached in their area. You never know, someone might be happy to rent one out for a few quid per month.

    I think it was your post that I noticed asking roughly the same thing. How did you get on? I am in rathmines/rathgar/ranelagh area...

    Rented a garage for a year in Ranelagh a couple of years ago. As above posted flyers in a lot of the red brick houses, especially those that look like they are being rented out. People renting bedsits rarely need garages, landlord is usually happy for the extra few bob. Place I rented was sold so that isn't an option.

    Try putting up a notice in shops, or on gumtree, or other free sites.
