i'm not sure some stations may broadcast some of the games but i doubt an irish station will broadcast every match  i'm not trying to be funny but there all on tv :)

Pretty sure that RTE Radio only ever sent Gabriel Egan out for the final in the past - not including the World Cups Ireland were involved in.

BBC 5 Live will block the online coverage for Iirish users. :(

Considering the kick-off times, with most people in work, it's ridiculous that they're not providing radio coverage.

BBC Radio 5 Live is your best option, it is possible that Today FM or Newstalk will take a feed from 5 Live? (as they do for the English Premiership), not sure about World Cup matches though.

I listen to 5 Live's excellent coverage on 693 MW during the day, in the car, great reception in Sligo.
I suppose since RTE dont have 612 MW anymore then they would not broadcast the games.

I also have to use Five live as well, coverage is good but as I'm driving arond I find I lose reception a lot. Pity.

I find it ridiculous that there is no Irish radio station that broadcasts on FM (who wants MW?) is not covering it? I'm sure there's a big market for it and I love listening to Radio commentary.

We'll have to get togetherin 2012 and organise a campaign for radio coverage for the next European Championship.

So frustrating not being able to listen at work when you have no acess to the internet if Dab had stations from other countries on its platfrom maybe more people would use it.The world cup is ideal for it

The RTE digital radio stations must have miniscule ratings.

This would have been a good opportunity to direct some traffic there by putting some World Cup commentaries on one of their stations.

I'm sure they could have bought an international commentary feed, or even have sent a few of their own team to South Africa.

I'm sure if it was a rugby match it would be on, they seem obsessed with it.

Apologies for bumping an old thread!

2014 World Cup and still not on the radio (Irish). 5 Live and Talksport are good but sometimes the signal goes as you are driving!

Despite that we are not in it, yeah it's poor alright. I'd even settle for live updates every 15 minutes at this stage. Ignored by most presenters.

Did you know that if you hit the Red Button you can listen to BBC Radio Five ~Live and watch the pictures on BBC 1....

Is Conor Mc Namara Irish - now on commentating with Kevin Killbane?

Yes he is. Been with 5 Live for a few years now.

Yes the red button is great, always listen to it when BBC cover the games but it would be nice to have a clear radio service in the car as a lot of people are only on the way home when the 5pm matches are on. The MW reception of 5 Live and Talksport is not very good at this time of the year.
