    Hey all,

    Just starting to look at RAW files and was wondering if I could ask a no-doubt silly question in regards to changing the white balance via photoshop.

    Below is my screen; which has a tool called white balance; you use this tool to click on a part of the image that should be white and it adjusts the image accordingly;

    My question; What do I do if there's nothing white in a photograph I take?

    Cheers :)

    Adjust it manually using the temperature and tint sliders

    You're not necessarly looking for something that is white. You're looking for neutral (gray). So, select the white balance tool. As you move it around the image, keep an eye on the RGB values in the top right hand side. Where they are all equal is where you'll find neutral. Dont select anything near 0, 0, 0, or for that matter 255, 255, 255. You can then adjust the balance by eye to help make it more visually pleasing if you like.

    Camera raw has some presets that might be usefull depending on what type of lights was used flash daylight cloudy tungsten fluorescent then use the slider to the left or right to adjust as needed.

    I use this method in photoshop for getting the colour correct.
