    Hi
Got the date for my test today. As I'm from a farming background and will probably be using a cattle trailer,Ive applied for category EB!
I got this attached to my e-mail:

Please read the enclosed leaflet Final Checks for your Driving Test. This tells you about important conditions that you must meet before taking your test.
A first time holder of a Learner Permit (the code 991 will be noted opposite the category on your licence under the column marked Regulations/Information) for licence categories of motorcycle, car and works vehicle must hold the Learner Permit for six months before taking the test. If you fail to meet these conditions, your test will not be conducted on the day and you will lose your fee.
Representative Vehicle if registered before 01/01/2004 A combination, made up of a category B test vehicle with a trailer, capable of a speed of at least 100km/h. which shouldbe either (a) a 4 wheel drive vehicle and trailer, or a vehicle with a minimum length of at least 4.25 metres, and a trailer, which does not fall within Category B. The trailer used shall have a gross vehicle weight of at least 1,400 kg., and have internal dimensions of at least 2.4 metres by 1.2 metres. Representative Vehicle if registered on or after 1/1/2004 Combinations, made up of a category B test vehicle which should be either (a) a minimum length of at least 4.25 metres, or (b) a 4 wheel drive vehicle, and a trailer with a gross vehicle weight of at least 1,400 kg., capable of a speed of at least 100km/h, which does not fall within Category B. The cargo compartment of the trailer shall consist of a closed box body which is at least as wide and as high as the motor vehicle, and have a length of at least 2.4 metres. (The closed box body may also be slightly less wide than the motor vehicle, provided that the view to the rear is only possible by use of the external rear- view mirrors of the motor vehicle).
If you must cancel the test, please give at least ten days notice. If you cancel an appointment more than twice you will forfeit your test fee. You may only cancel this test if you haven't already cancelled two earlier test appointments. You may cancel by fax on 096 78290, by email to cancelmytest@rsa.ie, in writing, or by phone. Our cancellation voicemail service at LoCall 1890 406040 operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please quote your reference number, included at the top of this letter, when you cancel.
You will get more information on our website at www.drivingtest.ie.

Do i need to use a trailer as part of my test?
    Thanks for the help!

First of all do you already have a Cat B licence or is this your first driving test ?

You cant do a Cat EB (Car + Trailer) unless you already have a Cat B licence - (in fact you cant get a Learner Permit for EB unless you have a full Cat B).

So, I'm confused by your question :-)

If you really are doing a Cat EB test then you must provide a suitable trailer on the day of the test, if you are only doing a Cat B test then it is just a car and assuming you pass then you start again for the EB - you cant jump straight to the EB.

    Hope that makes sense!
