all depends on your own personal circumstances to be honest,

The fact that the course is on 5 nights a week from 6.00 until 9.00/9.15 you might fair better living up in Dublin for the 2 academic years. Obviously this might not be an issue for you, but with all the driving at night, after a day of work you might want to consider it.

Attendance is tightly construed in the Inns.

Hi, Just to correct what was written then. I have just finished the first year of the course. The course is on 4 nights a week, Mon-Wed 5.45-8 and thursdays 5.45-9 and every second saturday from 9-12.30.
There are quite a few people living in wicklow, wexford, meath, carlow etc and they travel up everynight for lectures so it is not a big deal at all.
From what was said about attendance being tightly construed in the Inns, this is not really the case. There is no sign in for the lectures but there is for the Thursday and Saturday tutorials. There was lots of people who were very sporatic in their attendence and a few recieved a letter at christmas telling them they had to attend more but that was all. To be honest they say you have to go to all lectures and tutorials but there is no real consequence from the Inns if you do not attend.
That being said though you are a fool if you dont go to tutorials as this is when it all starts to make sense and the exams are largely based on what you covered in these. I didnt miss a tutorial all year so there were no real surprises when the exams came. Others whose attendence was down said they found it a real struggle. If i had to give honest advice i would say try and make all the lectures you can but make sure you attend all the tutorials. Its a tough year - a lot of work, i was working full time aswell, but its alot of fun too. We had a great class this year, very social and all were happy to help each other out.

Thanks all for the advice! I am very interested to hear that there is people from Wexford attending the Inns and travelling up everyday!

I have heard that the attendance isnt so strict, tbh i want to give it my all anyway so i dont intend missing much time if i can at all manage it. Its great to hear from someone that has just finished first year and sounds like it was very enjoyable, not forgetting hard work aswell!!

I would be a "mature" student just curious what the age range is.....i.e. what is the 35 - 40 year percentage!!!

    Hi,
Our year a big enough year of about 110 students. I would guess that we have at about sixty students who are over 30 years of age. The class mixes great. We had about 80 come out to a evening at the officers mess - one of the lads in the class is in the army, and a large percentage of the class of all ages went to the Christmas ball and a few pints after tutorials after thursdays tutorials! I wouldn't worry about the age thing at all.

Oh yeah and 'Jo King' no one likes a smarty pants! We all knew what was meant by that comment.
