Who to believe?

Hi hopefully someone can offer some advice

I noticed a strange rumble (definitly not a knock) coming from the front drivers side on my car which was more audible at low speed going down a slope after a lot of driving over the long weekend

I took it to one of the main tyre/suspension chains yesterday evening who could not find anything wrong with my front suspension but advised that my rear shocks were weaping and the tyres were out of shape.

today I took it to a main dealer and took it for a test drive with a mechanic. He had examined the suspension and could find no fault however on the drive he did hear the noise and suggested examining all of the bolts etc to ensure nothing was loose. I didn't have the time to let him at it today but will go back

I asked him specifically if there was anything wrong with the rear shocks and tyres - I watched him examine them and he said there was nothing wrong

I've never hear of a tyre being out of shape so I've no idea who to believe on either front

    Any suggestions??

Not sure if this will help but my Clio when I had it done something similar in the end.

It sounded like a a cv boot was gone but when we jacked it up it was the gearbox differentiation.

Did they drive it in circles when test driving it to test the driveshafts etc?

What type of car etc is it?

Every car that enters an advance pitstop or equivalent seems to have leakin rear shocks. Tell him to F off givn that main dealer can see nothing wrong with the rear shocks.

    Possibly a wheel bearing issue

I'd leave the back suspension alone if the dealer said its ok and the noise is from the front. Is it only on particular road surfaces? My 156 (basically the same car) used to rumble going down hill on certain surfaces. Searched high up and low down and it seemed perfect. Put it down to some sort of weird tyre noise.

Many of these lads are paid on commission, leaking rear shocks are not too common but on cars that enter the places that used to be Kwik Fit outlets dodgy rear shocks are a huge problem.

Many of the lads that work in main dealers aren't too bright either lets face it. Just because they work in an authorised dealership doesnt make them infallible or a good mechanic for that matter.

I didn't comment on anyones brightness, I mentioned that they are paid on commission  This encourages them to sell shocks, exhausts etc. If Mr Green wanders in they may be tempted to sell him shocks he doesn't need.
