Personally I would spend a maximum of €150.

Yup, depending on the condition. Realistically, the back is going to be scratched to **** unless you had a perfectionist using it!

I'd hold off though. You'll probably get a 3G for around the 200 mark once the iPhone 4 is released next month.

Realisitcally you won't get over €200 for it.

    I wouldn't pay more than €100 - seriously.

There's going to be a glut of unlocked 3G/3GS phones next month so a 2G isn't really worth much.

I'd agree with Dades, anything over 100 is being seriously optimistic.

What would an unlocked 3GS 16 GB be worth when the iPhone 4 is released?

    €300-€350 I reckon

Unfortunately for sellers, the iPhone 4 has made the 3G/3GS specs look seriously outdated.

Not the 3GS really. I doubt there will be too much difference under the hood between the 3GS and the 4. Certainly not the leap from the 3G to the 3GS.

Much bigger leap actually. Better processor, camera (with Flash), battery and screen along with extras like a front facing camera, and the 3 axis gyro. Plus it is thinner and better designed (some may argue this point, personally I prefer it).

The only improvement the 3GS had over the 3G was the processor and battery.

Have to agree with most posters here and say that it's value is around 100, imho.

It might be better just to hang onto it as a back up phone. A lot of the time when you need to get a phone repaired and get a loan from whoever's fixing yours, the phone they give you is quite basic, and sometimes they may not have any at all. It would be handier to at least have a decent enough phone as a back up, since there's not really a huge amount of resale value on it.
