Thinking about a ferry holiday

Hi all, I'm looking for some suggestions and advice.

I've been giving some serious thought to taking the car to France (I'm blaming the ads on the radio) and I'm warming to the idea more and more.

Can anyone give me suggestions on where might be a good spot to go? We're on a tight(ish) budget and have a 18month old to cater for.

Ideally I'd like a resort or maybe a caravan site type deal, somewhere fun with kids stuff, music etc. Reasonably close to a beach.

I've been on some of the ferry sites and see their resort bookings but I'm a bit wary and would appreciate real feedback, thanks.

Have you looked at the likes of key Camp? I don't know if they are any good, but there is loads of info on their site.

Another thing to consider is the ferry from Portsmouth rather than going direct. You can go Rosslare to Pembroke, then down to Portsmouth for the night crossing. it is 8 hours and arrives at 6am so you are refreshed and ready for your onward journey.

As you have left it late the availability will be much lower. You may also have to pay for the more expensive accomodation as the cheaper sells out quickly. You may have to consider a Supertent. You may also have to travel later in the Season.

    Ferry prices may be higher.

Keycamp is ok but Keycamp.co.uk is actually cheaper and the same thing essentially.

Eurocamp is who I am going with but I booked back in August/September.

Go Irish and try http://www.campotel.com/ I have stayed with them before and they are middle of the road.

Keycamp and Eurocamp would be the elite.

There is canvas holidays as well but I have never used them.
