Hi, I've been experimenting with hair colours this year (blue, purple, red) and I unfortunately burned it out, I know exactly what you mean about taking ages to deknot it after washing it. My mum got me a tube of this stuff by James Brown from Boots, I thought it worked really well: http://www.boots.com/en/James-Brown-London-Intensive-Mask-for-Hair-150ml_49371/

Otherwise you could try a DIY one, some people swear by leaving either mayonaisse or olive oil on for 20-30 mins. Beware mayonaisse though, despite washing it out thoroughly, my hair smelt a bit for a day or so.

Someone here recommended coconut oil and I tried it - its amazing! Leave it on for as long as you can and then wash it out :)

I have dry highlighted hair too and I use Loreal Elvive Treatment. The one wit royal jelly, it's in a white tub with a yellow lid...great stuff and its only about €5!
