    Hi folks.

As a lifelong Mario fan I' thinking fo finally buying a Wii for SMG2(And the first one).

However I don't have a CRT telly anymore and hear the Wii looks terrible on HDTVs. Is this correct?

I heard that a component cable improves display on HDTVS but does this come with the Wii, if not where does one buy one?

Also, what's the best deal on a Wii right now.

    Cheers.

It's difficult to comment on, because at least part of the "ZOMG! The Wii looks shyte on DHTVs" outcry was from people who bought more expensive systems and were trying to justify doing so to themselves/the world.

Admittedly, the wii's not graphics-intensive in the way other consoles are. That said, it looks fine to me on my 720p screen. Think a slightly more polished version of the Gamecube.

Still better to look at one running in-store before making your mind up though.

No idea about good deals, sorry.

I don't know where to get component cable either, for that matter. I think (though I could be wrong) that it comes with one.

wii (when I bought it anyway) didn't come with component cable.
you can get them for next to nothing on ebay - I bought one like this - worked fine.

don't know about good deals but you should be able to get one 2nd hand for cheap -> try adverts.ie

I'm being silly and confusing the basic AV cable with the component cable. Which in turn means that my Wii is only outputting onto my 720p screen at 480p.

I still say that it's fine using the RGB cable, but obviously mileage on these things varies. I'd suggest checking it out in store to see what it looks like with RGB and decide then whether you're pushed about getting the component cable instead...
