Receiving Internet TV

I've laboured over whether to post this here or not but I couldn't find any exact match for this category of question.

I'm going to be in Germany for 6 months and simply want to watch some TV on the internet. I know this is a sat forum but does anyone know of any halfway decent site for internet tv...where I could catch documentaries, some movies, maybe reruns of J. John Deed?

Of course I've googled the topic but all you get is page after page of rubbish. I tried bbc iplayer and it told me I can't watch their stuff abroad.
    Probably same for rte.

Any sites, portals that you trust/recommend would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks (and sorry if I put this question in the inappropriate place)

Its probably not the right forum. (And its not the sat forum either )

    but to answer your question.

www.SeeSaw.com content from all UK Terrestrial channels. (Requires UK IP)
    www.rte.ie/player (Requires Irish IP)
www.Hulu.com Content from major US networks (Requires US IP)
overplay.net subscription service €7 euro a month with no contract (VPN service gives you the required US, UK or Irish IP for the sites above).

there are other VPN providers Hotspotshield is free, works for US IP but not as reliable as a subscription service.

    Thank you very much, ema.,

I didn't think it was a walk, just wanted a kick from someone who knew a bit more. Cheers again.

    Have you considered a slingbox?

A PC can do same as Slingbox, and better.
But you need huge CAP and >1Mbps upload speed in Ireland to stream any useful quality (500kbps is a minimum). Most people's upload is 128k to 384k. 1Mbps is about 1200Gbyte a month. On a 30G cap thus you can have about half an hour of substandard TV a day, assuming the Irish connection can sustain 1Mbps and has as much as 30G cap.

    Or...
    Get an Irish Sky Subscription.
Take the box and card only to Germany and add local 80cm to 1.2m dish depending on if in West or East.
