historical data on vehicles

    Hi,
    I have posted this up in the motor section but figured maybe someone may know here.
    The data that the likes of motorcheck.ie and cartell have, where do they actually get their data from ?
    I am presumming they get it from some central database/agency ?
    I'm looking at setting something similar up.

    get some data from Vehicle Registration Unit (Department of Transport). and if you get through - ask them to ring me back, i left a message trying to look at the database 5 months ago!

    I just emailed SIMI, Experian, and Motormouth on newstalk :-)

    that info comes straight off the log book. Not always correct. So im guessing its the dept of enviroment in shannon.
    I hope your aware of all the compeditors, because there are a good few at this stage.
