    Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a 13" MBP 2.4ghz and buying Logic Studio. Does anyone use Logic on a 13"? I'm thinking the small screen would not help, but I'd rather the mobility as I will be working in different countries..

Also, will it run smoothly on a 2.4ghz processor with 4gb RAM? I'm guessing it will be fine but if anyone has any experience in using Logic with this spec MBP that would be great..

    Cheers

    hows it goin

iv used my 13" and its crap tbh i would advise a bigger screen the bigger the better also
and if your getting logic studio id advise get the highest spec as posible if you can becaus ethen you will have no problems etc !! 4 gb is good for logic but what is your hard drive?? 320 or 500 gb (500 recommended)?? and what is your rpm ? 7200 rpm recommended aswell as i said rpm the higher the better
if your serious about recording with logic, its better having a high spec computer for everything to work great with no problems !! check adverts.ie there are some great deal on macs der anything with high specs is great :) and also recommended if you are using logic its better to have your files all backed up on a external hard drive and i recommend using fire wire :) and all the new macbook pros have only firewire 800 ports on them i think the macbook pro 13" dont have them on them
just recently i picked up a macbook pro 15.4" 3.06ghz 4gig ram 500 gb HD 7200 rpm for 1200 . . .you just have to look around for the write on ehope that helped abit any other quetsions just fire them at me and also to add i have a external monitor conected to my mbp when im in the studio

I'm running logic express on my 13" 2.0 ghz MacBook. Using an external monitor and it works really well

    really ????:eek::eek::eek:

maybe im wrong or right at the same time but i have been advised by more than a few people to get a higher spec mac sorry if i was being to strong

but if theres a decent mac going with higher specs for the same price of the 13" mac you want to get or even lower i say get it and plus then you r mac will run even faster ;)

sorry just realized you said express . . coreect me if im wrong logic studio uses more cpu power, it has way more plugins vst's etc and need more memory since it is a pro DAW compared to logic express which isnt on the same level and logic studio . . im standing by what i said with pro DAWS and full softwares ,the more cpu power/ghz/memory the better :)

    Hi Lima,

    First things first.

What do you expect to do with it?

Are you just going to record a few live instruments and add a few AU's?
I have a 2.26Mhz MBP and its MORE than capable of doing this.

    Cheers for the replies,

I am hoping to resurrect my interest in producing techno/house and chill out. the only live instruments I would want to record in right now would be my semi acoustic guitar and a mic.. I've used Reason on a laptop before but now I want to completely move to Mac and get an all-in-one studio app such as Logic

Regarding the 13" vs 15" this has been the big desicion I am having to make. I travel a lot for work so I need the mobility, so I was thinking of using my 32" HDTV as a monitor if I needed to, or else getting a smaller external monitor.. some of my friends have a 13" mbp and they said the size is fine

    Cheers

well there you go your sorted :D just get the 13" spec you said for easy mobility and then when at home conect it to you external monitor

if you only recording one guitar and soft vocals you will be fine i thought you wanted to be recording cabs and pluging in analog intruments etc

Runs great on my 13" 2 GHz Macbook with 2 gigs of RAM.
    You'll be fine.
