    Hey all.
Im immigrating to Australia in August.
Before we go however im thinking of doing a bit of traveling in Southeast Asia. The plan is for us to meet my partners Brother in Singapore and Fly to Perth from there.
So the idea is to get out there two-three weeks before we meet him and do a bit of backpacking. Can anyone recommend places to visit in that part of the world. Thailand is not an option as we have already traveled around the country for 6 weeks.
    Thanks for your help.
    Marty

    Hi there,

I am planning something similar myself.. having done loads of research on the web and also talking to people, I would recommend Vietnam you can travel from north to south or vise versa... it really sounds amazing..

I am going from North to South Hanoi - HaLong Bay - Hue - Hoi An - Na Trang - Ho Chi Minh City

you can see loads of cool stuff from 'the american war' as they call it.. its not as touristy as Thailand,, it has the same lovely beaches and delish food.. its also cheap as chips.. and the people are a great bunch of lads..

3 weeks would be plenty to good look at the place, you could even skip over to Laos and do the tubeing thing in Vien Vieng (probably spelt wrong)

I have a rough little plan made up for SE Asia I would happy to send on to you if you want, just PM your email.

Bibbly - If I was you I'd skip Nha Trang. Not much there and the beach is filthy. I was there last week and I could live with the general rubbish washed up. The used nappies were a bit much but the hospital waste that was washed up was just a bit too much for me.

I heard Mui Ne is much nicer and I wish we had of gone there instead
