Same here , looking to carpet our stairs , based in North Dublin, have read a few posts here advising to keep clear of certain places because of bad experiences ..etc Would probably be looking at fit and install ,
Would like some recommandations as sometimes the "price might be right ;) " but installer might make a "balls" of it .

Price wise would be looking for a good quality to middle of range supplier (looking for carpet that will be durable as it's the stairs !!!
    Cheers,

Sorry for jumping in here op

    Hi

I've used Bargaintown to supply my floor coverings for the past 20 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. They have prices to suit every need, but if you don't go for good quality you will pay for it at the end of the day as they say cheap carpet walks off the floor.

If the price is reasonable the quality generally is not; the best value at the moment is to find carpet shops or interior designers who sell the products of
some of the large wholesalers such as P G Power who have great value in stock carpeting both wool and synthetic.

a word of advise when dealing with carpetright in fairness the carpet price is ok but they will stink you on accescories like underlay grippers and door bars, i worked for them for a short while in the uk and was shocked at the charges ,even thou i as a fitter collected the carpet and brought to house to fit it they charged the customer a delivery fee unbelievable ,

A word of advice to carpet buyers in Limerick...I recently got a house fitted by Factory Carpet Outlet off the Coonagh Roundabout on the Ennis road in Limerick. The fitting on the stairs is the worst job I've ever seen...gaps between the carpet and the wall, very lumpy, not nailed down properly. I was really disappointed as I spent quite a bit buying lino for the kitchen and having two bedrooms carpeted as well. The fitters came back to "fix" the job but didnt & left without saying they were leaving, just drove off. I had no joy when I called into the shop to discuss it with them. All in all a very bad experience. Enough carpet to re-do the bottom half of the stairs and enough reimbursement to pay a proper fitter to do the job would have been appropriate.
Any ideas what I can do about it?
    Anyway, be warned

All cities and towns suffer from this scourge. Being requested to pay all money
up front when fitting is required leaves one open to abuse.
Typically the standard of fitting is less then perfect and sadly there is no easy way to correct the problem without replacing the carpeting.
A call to your local radio station to air the matter might help to lead people towards carpet companies with good fitters and away from cowboys.

would not recommend Bargaintown - they just did a job for me - turned up late, did a sloppy job and they left the place in a complete mess and did not take the old carpet and underlay away and won't return calls. I can tell you I won't ever be going near them again.

Rafters in Balbriggan, they are great, we had our whole house floored with them, reasonably priced and excellent service :)

Nigel in "Beds Plus" (behind Woodies in Coolock) is the man to go to for underlay, carpet and flooring.

Cheaper than anyone else by a mile and brilliant service too.I can vouch for this, after using his company twice now.:)
