should I get an iPhone or just wait for the iPad?

I have some money to spare as my stupid cousin called off the holiday. My phone broke a couple of weeks back and I am interested in the iPhone because of it's innovation, in that it's more than a phone with the apps yet it still fits in your pocket.

I like the iPad because it is seemingly a bigger iPhone but it doesn't fit in your pocket, but is portable. Though if my phone didn't break though I wouldn't even be thinking of getting an iPhone.

    What do you recommend?

    The iPad isn't a phone.

If you want a phone, get an iPhone
If you want something to fill the role of netbook, mini-laptop, kindle etc get an iPad.

    The two are really interchangable

Also if you're going for an iPhone you should also really be waiting for the new model to be released as well.

Could be next month or September.

The new iPhone should be out here around 24th of July so I'd say wait and see what that is like, if you don't like that the 3GS is going to get cheaper when the new iPhone is released

The new iPhone looks pretty cool, but i'd choose an android phone personally, and have a look at some other tablets... as cool as the ipad is, it doesn't do multitasking, and that is a real pain in the ass.

This on the other hand, will be released in about six months I think, and supports up to 5 finger multitouch, looks awesome.

    The iPhone 4 multitasks,
there will prob be a software update at some stage that lets the ipad multitask

4.0 should be out around September for the iPad.

I think I'm in the minority in that I don't think the iPad is that fantastic and I personally don't really have much use for one. It looks nice, don't get me wrong and if I was offered one for free, I'd take it. But it seems like an expensive piece of kit and for what it actually does and doesn't do compared to my iPhone and my laptop, it's not really worth the money, for me anyway.

Anyway I'd recommend buying an iPhone but perhaps wait till the iPhone 4 is available which should be within the next month or two. I have a 3GS and it's very nice, I like it a lot. I love that I can have all my music on it and it's my phone as well and can do lots of other things. I use some software on it when I'm out walking to track how far I've walked etc. It's really cool.

I'm personally going to wait for the iPad 2. Unless of course I get one really cheap or free.

If I were you I would get the new iPhone, I got the 3Gs one late last year and although I love it I am regretting not holding out for the new one!
