IRA Taking of Drangan RIC Barracks 3rd June 1920-90th Anniversary Commemoration

    To commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the taking of Drangan RIC Barracks on 3rd June 1920 a Mass and Ecumenical Service in Drangan Church at 7.30pm this coming Friday night 11th JuneA Wreath laying... Ceremony will take place at 8.15pm at the IRA Grotto in Drangan, at 8.30pm a meeting will be held in the hall in Drangan with a documentary by John Hackett detailing local sites of interest from this period.This will be followed by an Historical talk detailing the IRA activities in the area given by Jim Maher, author of "Flying Column of West Kilkenny 1916-21"
    All are welcome to attend

    id like to have went to that actually. Only down the road from drangan and fascinated with that part of our history

    Currently we have 17 members who meet monthly, only started in March this year, we have had Tom Burnell visit with paraphernalia from WW1, a tour and lecture on Kickham Barracks and this month on the 28th in Slievenamon Golf Club at 8pm, our Sec Michael Dolan will be giving a lecture on Military Memorials in Tipperary. We plan on visiting France/Belgium next year specifically to visit sites where the 6th Batt Royal Irish Regiment fought and visit graves of Tipperary men who were killed in action. As you can see a lot happening, well worth joining
