My own experience with these brands was good. I found GY lasted longer while BS had better grip.

TBH I've downgraded to Firestones and found little difference.

With tyres, you pay for what you get so avoid budgets but your already doing that!

Whatever you buy, MAKE SURE each of them have the e-Mark sign on it...
Too many NCT fails these days because of that...

Surely that won't be a problem buying the above brands?

These come highly rated and are on special offer at the moment:

Allow a further €60 for having them fitted locally.

I unknowingly bought GoodYear Eagle NCT5s without e-marks before.

Currently running Vredestein - great performance with a fantastic price from Camskill.
    Have a look here

I bought a set of Goodyear Eagle F1's in May 2009, no emark on them, failed my NCT last week as a result.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I have a question as well.

If I was to buy a set of tyres of camskill or eiretyres, and when they arrive, they`ll have no E mark on them, what comeback do I have against them ?

What should I do if I have recently purchased tyres which are not e-marked

If you have recently had tyres fitted to your vehicle which do not have an e-mark you should return to the place of purchase and request that they be replaced with the appropriate e-marked tyres for your vehicle. It is illegal to fit non-e-marked tyres.
The Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) is advising that any motorist who has purchased a non e-marked tyre from one of their members should go back to the vendor with proof of purchase.
When returning non e-marked tyres the National Consumer Agency advise that you consult the information provided on their website on the Sale of Goods Acts 1893 and 1980 (PDF)

This is surprising - where are these non-E-marked tyres coming from? North America? East asia (anywhere but Japan)? Or are these just very old stock? There's usually a manufacturing date on tyres, but I think that was only made mandatory in the past few years as well.

It's a very good question. I'm calling into the place I got my tyres tomorrow morning, will chat to the guy and see what he has to say. I paid €500 only 12 months ago, and have done only 12,000 miles on them.

Email them, quoting the order number after you have made the purchase. Ask them to make sure they are E-marked before they dispatch. I have always found them quite helpful with things like this.

I emailed them before on this and the mailed me back to say that all of their tyres have the 'E' mark.

Be careful as there are lot of scam artists out there selling tyres with no "E" mark. I bought a set of Bridgestone tyres from Shankill Tyres a year ago, and my car failed the NCT in April- no E mark on *any* of them.
Shankill Tyres refused to replace them. It cost me another 350 euro to buy tyres and pass the NCT in time, and the best Shankill Tyres have offered is 200 euro as a rebate, leaving me 150 euro out of pocket.

I know that http://www.alloy-wheels.ie/ (Not related to me...) are matching Camskill prices in most cases, might be worth a shout, they are in blanchardstown (D15) and have good brands (Michelin, etc...)...
