Apologies if this is not the right spot for this but thought some folks on here might know.
    Thanks in advance.

Any hardware store will sell it (B&Q, Woodies, Atlantic etc)

Really? Last time I checked Woodies they didn't have it (just Duck tape).
I can't find any on the Woodies or B&Q websites.
It's been a while since I looked for it but I was under the impression that you had to go to a specialised store to get it (film supplies, car supplies etc.).

I always thought "Duck Tape" was just a trade/brand name for tape that is otherwise generically referred to as duct / gaffer tape. Just goes to show - every day is a school day! Apparently....

"Duct tape is commonly used in situations that require a strong, flexible, long lasting adhesive, particularly when exposure to the elements is a concern. A more specialized product, commonly known as gaffer tape, is preferred in entertainment circles, as it does not leave a sticky residue when removed, comes in matte black, and is more easily torn into thin strips for precise application.Gaffer tape generally costs 3 to 4 times the amount of a roll of duct tape of equivalent length; this is because it is manufactured in much smaller volumes, and to different specifications that make it easy to tear and to remove cleanly. Duct tape, in its guise as "racer's tape", has been used in motorsports for more than 40 years to repair fiberglass bodywork. Racer's tape comes in a wide range of colors to help match it to common paint colors. In the UK it is usually referred to as "tank tape" in motorsports use."

    So now I know!...

    Gaffer tape
    Duct tape

Thanks for all the educational posts! Yeah, it's the residue I'm trying to avoid.
Playing gigs, venues don't often appreciate duct tape being used because it leaves a mark and removes paint, etc. but I also need some to put on my guitar and I don't want to wreck the paint job.
I see it's possible to get gaffer tape on Amazon but if anyone knows a place in Dublin that would be way better.
    Thanks!

B and Q do sell gaff. I've bought it there plenty of times. 7.50 odd as far as I remember. Had a couple of different brands including their own.
