I really do not have the energy to go into detail in this post, as I'm really feeling ill but do you just get to retake a different paper at the end of the examinations?

    cheers,

    Kevin.

If you have a serious illness, your school can arrange with the SEC for a supervisor to be sent to your hospital room. You will sit your exam at the same time as the rest of the country.

'Feeling ill' isn't really grounds enough, to be honest.

There is no provision to retake exams after the other candidates.

I have a mad headache, gushing front to back in my head. (when I get up it makes it worse)

I feel terribly cold now and again, and start to shake.

not in the zone at all, feel a bit light headed also, which is not the perfect senario for sitting an english exam.

A candidate may not be permitted to leave the hall and return during the examination period unless the Superintendent is satisfied that the candidate's need to leave the hall is genuine, (e.g. because of illness, urgent need to visit the toilet, etc.). A candidate who leaves the hall during any period of examination shall not be re-admitted during that period unless the candidate has been in the care of a representative of the school authority or, failing that, in the care of the Attendant during the entire period of the absence. The candidate must hand the answer book and question paper to the Superintendent on leaving the hall; the Superintendent should record on the cover of the answer book the time of departure from and return to the hall and the reason for the absence; the time lost by the candidate may not be compensated for at the close of the examination period. Particulars of any such occurrence should be reported on the appropriate Advice List."

That's the procedure if you feel sick in the examination, but what If you don't attend it at all?

Been to the doctor, I have a right ear infection, possible vertigo (explains the headaches), and a bad virus.

no need to be a smart arse, I would upload the doctors explanation if I could.

She said it's no bother, and not to worry. If I have a miraculous turnaround I should be able for Friday but Monday is her prediction.

Yes, and possibly fridays aswell depending on how I am feeling.

Was onto the school, and they were very understanding. They know that I have worked hard all year and have said that aslong as I go in for a few the leaving certificate shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, you don't need to have sat or even attempted the Junior to sit the Leaving.
If you had been an LC candidate, I would have advised you to sit the exam anyway and get the superintendent to note your doctor's diagnosis on the paper.
I hope you feel better soon.

I remember the girl sitting behind me in the Junior Cert had a vomiting bug, they just told her to get up and leave whenever she had to. She didn't make it on time, you can see where this story is going...

Hope you feel better soon though!

Haha. One of my teachers told us that her friend had a vomitting bug or something one day during the leaving I think it was. They all fit in their P.E. hall which was a room outside of the school, so they had bathrooms in the hall like, like with a changing room. They told the supervisor. One time she was running really fast and going around a corner, she slid and went into a wall. Everyone had turned around and there was this really loud noise. Even the supervisor laughed. :L :)
