Just wondering can you eat in the junior cert. For example, maybe an apple?? I also heard that chewing gum helps you concentrate?

Hard-boiled sweets would be ideal, but I'm not sure about apples. As they'd make a bit of noise while eating them. Same with crisps. Also, you wouldn't be able to fully concentrate on the paper while eating an apple?

Gum would be okay, but it depends if your school allows it. Mine doesn't.

I was thinking the apple for fibre, so my stomach wouldn't start grumbling. Don't know how I'll last until 12!

As far as I remember, you're allowed food as long as it won't make any noise. I think an apple would be far too loud. For example, you could have a chocolate bar but you have to take it out of its wrapper before going into the exam because you can't be making any noise like opening it or anything. And as for gum, it depends whether or not your school allows it on a daily basis which I assume most schools don't. That's how it was for me anyway!

We were allowed chewing gum and water (no other drink) in our school for our exams last year.
    Depends on the school?

That's the way it is in most schools, but all it would take is for someone to bring a ridiculous amount in and then they would start clamping down. Smelly food which might disturn others is also a no-no.

Obviously diabetics and people with similar conditions are allowed bring in what they need (with a doctor's note).
