Hidden leaky cistern problem - Shires remo

I purchased 5 wall-hung toilets for a new build 4 years ago and i have had grief with them ever since. They are Shires Remo Wall-hung toilets with hidden cistern. When i get one toilet fixed the next toilet then causes problems.

All the toilets are fed from a tank in the attic.

The main problem is the cisterns are constantly leaking into the bowls. Tiny bits of dirt and algae etc. seem to get caught in the 'float operated water inlet valves'. I want to replace these valves with a mechanism that is more reliable and will put up with small bits of dirt flowing thru it. Could someone recommend a make and model of 'float operated water inlet valves' ? It has to connect from the bottom of the cistern and be small enough not to impede flush mechanism. see pics of current setup:

Another issue is the flush mechanism won't completely seal after the flush. There is always a drip, drip, drip into the bowl. The seals just don't seem to be good enough . (have tried cleaning etc. but no joy). Any ideas?

I feel Shires should do a recall on this product as i'm 100% sure everyone that has this product is having the same issues as me. I'm sorry i ever installed hidden cisterns as they are a real nightmare to fix if there are any issues.

I have two of these in cisterns fitted in my house had same problem so i drained attic tanks and cleaned em out completely. I was amazed amount of crap left inside tank (shavings from drilled holes splinters of wood etc). Then I took the filters off inlets and let the water flow into cistern for a minute to clear any remaining debris in pipework. This was nearly a year ago and i have'nt had any problems since.

Unfortunately our water comes from a lake and there is always new dirt etc. coming into the tank in the attic so this hasn't worked in my case. I need to source a water inlet valve that will put up with the dirt. Any ideas anyone?

had same problem with mine so i got a piece of blue tac yes i said blue tac and i stuck it to the top of the valve. the extra weight helps the valve close quicker and stops the water runing out i know its a bit cowboy ish but it works

Your problem is not the valves or the syphone but dirt in the system. No matter what type of valves you buy you will continue to have this problem while you have dirt.

The attic tank needs a clean out... Empty it then sponge out the dirt. Block up the holes with clean cloth or something to prevent dirt getting down.

Another solution is to buy one of the low pressure bottom inlet ball valves from m t agencies. I find this to be off better quality then the cheaper b&q ones.

lastly use a sponge to clean the black rubber seal at the base of the syphone and it will work fine after that...

ask any more questions if you wish. These things are bullit proof despite there rep on boards trust me... been supply and fitting years.
