    Hi Folks,

The weekend comp in my club is usually run over the sat and sun, however re-entry is not allowed.

My question is, is it against the rules to play a round on the course on the Saturday and then enter the comp on a Sunday.

your only real option is to practice once the competition has finished, some guys in my club will play during the comp but just not enter it but i think this is unfair as most of the time the timesheet is rammed and others cannot get out. selfish in my opinion.

Generally speaking I think your better off sticking to your normal practice procedure anyway (if you have one), Doing something out of the ordinary generally doesnt help any and way too many amateurs put too much pressure on themselves when captains prize, presidents prize etc comes along, hilarious watching guys you havent seen all year racing around the practice grounds the morning of the captains !!

Its OK to practice. We have the same and I would frequently play a few holes on Saturday evening, then play may competition round (against people who played on Saturday) on the Sunday.

OK according to the rules of golf really just because they do not legislate for this situation - they assume that a single round competition can only be held on one day. So rules only forbid you from practicing on the day that you will be competing, not that days on which others in the same competition may be competing.

On a related topic, my club calculates a CSS for the two days. But does not adjust the scores when there is a difference between the two. E.g. saturday's best score is 40pts with CSS 72. Sundays best score is 41pts with CSS 70. The 41point man wins the comp. For me the 40pt man should be the winner. Which version do you play?

    As I understand it...

You can't play the same course in practice on Sat that they are using for the weekend competition. As in, if the competition is played off the whites then you can't play off the whites on Sat-you'd have to play off the blues or yellows or whatever colour your course uses. Otherwise it's ok to play.

Im not even sure if different Tees are enough to make it ok...at least in my club you are forbidden from playing off the comp tees unless its a competition.
