Trying to get tickets for the first match in Aviva from the supporters club.

The site seems to be down, or is it just me?

    Is it sold out? :(

All I get is this when I click Buy Tickets, no link to go any further

    The O2 Challenge
Tickets for the O2 Challenge go on sale at 10 a.m. on Tuesday June 8th.

Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis and members will be allowed to buy a maximum of four tickets.

Tickets cost 10 Euro each and there is a 1 Euro handling fee per ticket.

The Leinster/Ulster and Connacht Munster selections will be made up of academy and up and coming players and will not include Ireland internationals.

Tickets will be posted approximately 2 weeks before the game.

    I got four no problem.

I noticed this on the site.

The Leinster/Ulster and Connacht Munster selections will be made up of academy and up and coming players and will not include Ireland internationals.

This is a pity but understandable.

Ha - knew this ages ago but nowhere is advertising it as such. the IRFU are using this match at a trial run for the new stadium. it will not be at full capicity.

Luckily, i'm getting free tickets for the match! can't wait to have a look around the new stadium.

what exactly do the irfu need to trial?

how many people do they expect to have at the match?

are there any other "festivitys" planned or just the match?

The composition of the two teams and where the players are being selected from has been announced to the public already.
Its even in our tag rugby press releases.

i was always under the (obviously mistaken) impression that it would be a mix of the full teams who would be playing. i only realised this morning when i went to book that it wouldn't be.

A new stadium will be gradually run into full operation.
Wembley did it. Millenium did it. Stadium Australia did it. It was also a successful operation at Thomond Park. A safe way of performing a 'snag' list while the facility is being used for an event.

    Just the match.
There is an open day on June 19th.
I'm not sure but I think the tickets for it were distributed via the clubs, supporters club competition etc.

i'm getting things mixed up. i thought the man utd soccer match was the start of july and wondered why that couldn't be used as the warm up. i notice now it's at the start of august. carry on, nothing to see here :)

Was this sale only for Supporters club members? I would have assumed Provincial STH would get close to first dibs...

Yes today's sale was for the Irish Rugby Supporters Club.
That would be under the remit of a particular provincial branch's ticketing dept as each province will have its own allocation.
I wouldn't know if season ticket holders would have such an allocation but I'd doubt it. Might just depend on the province though.

If the Supporters Club allocation doesn't sell out in a certain time, the rest will probably go out to public sale.

Is this match gonna be a good show? Are there other events planned on the day?

    No.
There's a match on for the first time at the new stadium with all facilities and areas open for the first time ever.
I would have thought that would have been a big enough event as it is.

You mean there won't be a bouncy castle? My dreams have been shattered :P. I'm sure there will be a lot going on around the ground on the day, its the first match so they will want to make it a special one, plus plenty of marketing opportunities etc. too. Anyway, even on big Heineken match days Leinster run stuff for the kids and have a band in the bar and stuff so its not just the rugby, the extra stuff can add to the ambiance, and I'm sure there is a similar set up in the other provinces. This is not just a rugby match, its the grand opening of Ireland's newest stadium, there will no doubt be lots of things organised other than the match.

A wee bit catty for an entirely reasonable question.
