I got a pair of the Specialized Arc Terra (http://www.specialized.com/gb/en/bc/SBCEqProduct.jsp?spid=40735&menuItemId=10833&eid=4953) glasses at the weekend and used them for the first time in the XC NPS race in Killaloe. There was open sunny sections and singletrack in the woods and the lenses adapted perfectly - always good contrast and no steaming up.

I have also used Oakley M-Frames with Permission (sp?) leneses which work really well - just look a little dorky.

I have similar DIY protection glasses, a cool pair, but offer 0 protection from the sun so they keep your pupils open and the sun burns the eyes off you.
