She's a great actress, but its gonna be absolutely impossible to
replace the impact John Lithgow had
    .

    I wouldn't say she's a stunner.. but she's pretty!

I'm gonna hazard a guess that she'll "play a mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter (Michael C. Hall) in the wake of the death of his wife". Just a guess though! :pac:

Have you seen her in "10 things I hate about you"...

    You so would.

Assuming it was filmed the year before release she'd have been 17 at the time so LEGAL ;):D

Showtime has renewed Dexter for a fifth season, which is set to premiere September 26, 2010. Julia Stiles will guest star in 10-episodes as a new woman in Dexter's life. Shawn Hatosy its also rumoured for season 5 as an FBI agent.

She's only in 10 episodes, if she's in the first one it means Dexter will have her chopped up and bagged by episode 10 :p

Could just means she misses an episode or two in between. You don't have to have every single character in every single episode

Not quite sure how reliable the site is but thought it was worth a post.

Shawn Hatosy has now been confirmed by Showtime after Julia stiles, that both will appear in the fifth season of Dexter.

Shawn Hatosy also confirmed to star in Dexter Season 5
Shawn Hatosy is making a pit stop in Miami before returning to Southland: Sources confirm to me exclusively that Shawn Hatosy has booked a multi-episode arc on Dexter.

A Showtime rep declined to divulge details on his character, but a recent Dexter casting call may offer a clue: The drama was seeking a thirtysomething actor to play the recurring role of a no-nonsense FBI agent. UPDATE: So much for my FBI theory. A source close to the show tells me that Hatosy is playing “a bad guy.”

This marks the second major piece of casting for Dexter‘s upcoming fifth season. As I reported last month, Julia Stiles is also joining the cast as a mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter.

After completing his Dexter arc later this summer, Hatosy will head immediately into production on Southland‘s 10-episode third season.

Dexter season 5 will start where it left off; with Rita dead. Factors such as Dexter's dark passenger, being a possible suspect in his wife's death, the Trinity killers family knowing him as Kyle Butler and his status as a single father should take this season in an interesting direction. The decision to kill Rita was a shocking one but it opens up many avenues for where this character and series can go, much more so than if she were still alive. This isn't the last we will see of Julie Benz though who will also reprise her role of Rita in some capacity that has yet to be divulged.

Jonny Lee Miller has joined the cast of the fifth season of Showtime’s Dexter. 37-year-old Miller has had roles in Smith, Eli Stone and the tv mini-series Emma. You might remember him as Dade Murphy/’Crash Override’/'Zero Cool’ in the 1995 film Hackers, Sick Bot in Trainspotting, and Simon Sheppard in Dracula 2000. Variety reports that Miller will have multiepisode arc, which will have him playing “a mysterious man who ends up tangled in a storyline with Julia Stiles.”

    A bit melodramatic tbh!

I've decided to merge the recent stories regarding casting of actors in the new season into one thread.

Former Tudors co-star Maria Doyle Kennedy is back at Showtime, now joining the cast of another drama series, Dexter. The Irish actress-singer, who played Henry VIII’s (Jonathan Rhys Myers) first wife Catherine Aragon in the first season of The Tudors, will recur on Dexter’s upcoming 5th season as an Irish nanny Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) hires.

The guest cast is shaping up well

According to Deadline, Weller will be playing “a troubled Miami Metro police officer who gets caught up in an internal affairs investigation.” The actor will appear in eight of the twelve episodes. Katherine Moennig, who memorably portrayed frisky hairdresser Shane on The L Word, will guest-star in the upcoming season of Dexter, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
Moennig will play a tattoo artist in the one-episode appearance. How she'll become embroiled in the serial killer's world remains unknown.

The executive producer of Dexter has dropped hints about Peter Weller's role on the show.

Chip Johannessen has suggested that the actor's character will cause trouble for Dexter, E! Online reports.

"He's going to be a big problem for Dexter, especially in the back episodes," Johannessen said. "He's an ex-cop, cocaine-era cowboy who gets into some trouble with the corruption thing."

Johannessen also confirmed that Julie Benz will reprise her role as Rita, but promised that she will not be a ghost.

"You'll be seeing her more than dead in a bathtub for sure," he teased.

Cannot wait for this new season, I think we will really see Dex unravel and make very sloppy mistakes in his kills, cracking under pressure from Quinn being on his tail and having to explain the 'Kyle Butler' situation. Anything could happpen!

    Bring it on:cool:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

Was the whole Kyle Butler situation not wrapped up when he
    killed Lithgow?

Well the whole Mitchell family saw Dexter so they can still ID him. They also saw Dexter grab Arthur around the neck, drag him into the kitchen and grab a big knife so theres some serious questions to be answered there.

    EW Ausiello Spoilers
Question: We’re so close to the premiere of Dexter and yet there was nothing in the last AA. Shame. —Adam
Ausiello: A scene in the Sept. 26 premiere in which Astor and Cody learn that their mother has been savagely murdered features a twisted-even-by-Dexter-standards piece of product placement. Hint: The folks at Disney are gonna be out for blood!
Question: My fiancé and I just watched all four seasons of Dexter in one week, and we’re completely hooked. Got any scoop on season 5? —Leslie
Ausiello: The premiere flashes back to Dex and Rita’s very first date. And given what went down on date No. 1, you’ll be shocked they made it to No. 2.

    http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2010/09/dexter-shawn-hatosy-sees-dead-animals.html

Shawn Hatosy likes to play both sides of the law, which is why he's excited for his guest run on "Dexter" to start on Sunday, Oct. 3.

"When this role came my way, I had played several cops in a row," the "Southland" star tells Zap2it, "and it was just very refreshing to see somebody as complex as Boyd Fowler."
Boyd, a guy who works for the department of sanitation in the dead animal pickup division, runs into Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) while on the job. Perhaps because of the nature of his gruesome work, he feels a certain kinship with Dexter.

"There seems to be a lack of confidence. He's not very self-assured," Hatosy observes. "What I enjoyed most about the character was that even though he's a bit of a loner, when he stumbles upon Dexter, he's desperate for friendship. It's like, 'Wow, there's somebody out there that gets me, that's into dead animal cleanup. This is something we can talk about together.'
