    Hi All,

Just wanted to ask a quick question! Is there some way you can get reassurance that everything is ok before your first scan.

Just wondering if it's possible to see a consultants / specialists before your 20 weeks scan? If so where would I go looking for such a service in Dublin/Kildare

    Thanks for helping in advance

You can get a private scan but they are about 120 euro.
Normally you will have 2 consultants visits before your anomaly scan at around 20 weeks.

€145 will get you a private scan at Ultrasound Dimensions in Blackrock.. We went there at 8 weeks and it really reassured us, lovely place and the lady who does the scans is very reassuring.. you get a couple of pics of the little one and a full medical report for your own records which includes the measurements and heart rate etc... well worth the money IMO, you can't put a price on the peace of mind it gives..

    Best of luck..

RCSI unit in the Rotunda Hospital does the same thing for €120 I think it was when I got it done!

Fab machines, better than the hospital ones!

We went after 11 weeks to ultrasound dimensions as well. It was a wonderful experience and helped put our minds to rest. They gave us some still shots and some video as well.

As a prospective father there is something magical about hearing your childs heartbeat for the first time.

We went back for the 4d ones at 22 weeks as well (mainly to send over to the Wifes family back home). They were also well worth the money imho.

We're at 39+ weeks now and I cannot wait to see this new person face to face.

    Good Luck OP!!

What hospital are you going to? Some hospitals do a dating scan at the first app. Also you should have seen your hosp consultant before the 20 week scan anyway & he may have listened to hb with doppler which will reassure.

We went to Baby Scan in Swords at 12 weeks (you can see a lot then, it looks like a real baby), mainly because they did Saturdays and were not too booked out, we also got the 4-d scan at 26 weeks, our 9 week 4 day bundle of joy still looks the same...get sleep while you can!
