I'm changing my car transporter trailer....

    ....and want to be completely legal. I have one on appro at the moment but it's an engineering shop fabricated one rather than a factory (b james, ifor williams, böckmann) manufactured one.

    It has no plate giving any ratings although it has a Bradley hitch and the front axle (of two) is braked.

    Is there anywhere I can have such a trailer appraised as to its legality and or capability?

    Theres talk of type-approval on trailers(among other things) coming in in the next few years if this comes in there could be a lot of bother with these home made trailers getting them approved and certified and you can be sure it won't be cheap.

    I decided in the end to go for the dog's bollox. A Boeckman tilting transporter with a load width of 6' 5" rather that the British 6' 1". I need it that wide for the off roader.

    So I'm 100% legal on the trailer.
