Celtic Manor doing a KClub

    Celtic Manor are doing exactly what the KClub did when they hosted the Ryder Cup and may no longer host a european tour event.

    Matthews and Smurfit must drink with each other as they know what to do to get the ryder cup and then as soon as they have it move on.

    I think it is poor form.

    Are we looking at a situation shortly where the only serious golf event played in the UK is the Open? While overly UK dominated at the time, its not that long since 12-15 Euro tour events a year were played there. What if anything is going wrong? Surely it is still the biggest golf market in Europe.

    Im calling Bullsh*t on this article/thread.

    The reason why the European Open was not staged after the Ryder Cup is because there was ownership isues around the course/rights when Smurfit Kappa re-listed on the stock exchange in the middle of 2007. Just after the ryder cup.

    As for Sir Terry Matthews comments', fair enough he is obviously uncertain about the future of the event post 2014and doesnt want to say to much until the Ryder Cup is over.

    The journalist is creating a story where there isn't one.

    am i missing something here .........
    how many venues on the tour are even commited to 2014(4 years after ryder cup,not exactly like the k club) never mind beyond.....

    for 4uck sake dumb story......... the tour had enough problems filling the 2010 calendar than to be worried about 5 years time

    I agree bad journalism........
