Nexus One WiFi issue

    Hi all

Am the proud owner of a Nexus One and I must say it is just bloody fantastic. I wouldnt be in to tech and know even less about it but this piece of hardware is a weapon. Cant say enough of good things about it. However.....

Just since yesterday my wifi is acting weird on it. When I go in to wireless and network settings the second option on that menu (wifi) is either saying disconnected or searching while at the same time having the green check mark beside it. Also every time I go in to wifi settings it says my network is not in range but then a second later my network pops up but doesnt connect. This even happens when I am beside my airport express so am a bit flummoxed with it.

I wouldnt be clever now with figuring this out so any assistance would be great. I had thought about doing the factory reset but then I lose all pics and contacts etc or have I that wrong too?

    Cheers

Why don't you back up your pictures, contacts etc and then restore factory settings?

I had an issue with my WIFI but it was because I rooted my Nexus and since you said you aren't very technical it's probably not that.

If you have a read here it seems the wifi problem is fixed by the Froyo update. You should update your N1 if you haven't done so yet.
*** Warning, it WILL erase everything on the phone!! *** (apparently not)
So back up your important data first. Then go to menu -> Settings -> About phone -> System software updates to see if the update is available. Also see here. HTH

Eh, updating to froyo erased nothing from my phone. Still a good idea to back up though.

Cheers Stephen, good to know. Post edited. I'm just used to phones that 'delete-f.kin-everything' the old fashioned way when upgrading... :D Haven't upgraded my Desire yet.
