I've seen a few people talking about proper, expensive pens, and I think they make a bit of a difference. I'm not sure though.

Are you allowed use pencil in the Junior Cert?

If you use a ballpoint, you may need to apply more pressure so go with an inky roll one. Pencil fades over time so I don't think you're allowed use them. Use black ink.

but they thing with ink pens is that they smudge and they make my writing look more messy

I would use a ballpoint that's light, one of those ones that you don't have to lean on too much. Don't use an inky one! It'll smudge and it'll really annoy the examiner. Also, use black pen as it's easier on the eye on the yellow paper for the examiner.

Same here. I tried the loads of expensive pens and none of them made any difference. but what works for me is using a regular pen until my hand writing gets bad and then i change to a Bic fine 4A374E6102BB01ABE1008000AC193D36.JPG
because it makes you write slower and clearer.

Woah you guys are all so worried about what pens you use! I usually scour my house in the morning before an exam for one working pen!

Don't use pencil. Use blue or black biro.
Do NOT use red or green.

I got a normal plastic-type pen and stuck one of those cushiony things (those things you'd stick on your pencils) onto it when I was doing my JC. Made my hand hurt less.

And as long as you don't have some type of magic pen that you can write answers onto or cheat with or anything, you'll be grand :)
