Ankle swelling

Anyone got any advice for me? I started developing a hobble on Thursday round lunchtime, by that night it was extremely sore taking my shoes off, by Friday evening I was in agony and couldn't put any weight on my right leg as a result of it.
I didn't fall, didn't trip, no trauma - the only thing I did was a home cycle on the turbo trainer on the Tuesday.
Hospital showed no broken bones so the doctor reckoned it was probably just ligaments.
I've been on painkillers and anti-inflamatories since Saturday lunchtime.
I can now put weight on the leg and the pain has subsided.
How long should I rest up for? I've spent the whole weekend resting and with the leg elevated.
Should I start trying to walk on it a bit or how long should I leave it?
