This is a repost from the motors section. Thought i'd try here as well.

    Fiat coupe 20vt 1997
(The car ran perfect befor the service was started)

After i did a mini service i could not restart the car, turned out to be a the connector for the cam phase sensor, it was plugged in but needed reconnecting, once she fired up it sounded like this http://img192.imageshack.us/i/mafcon.mp4/ Once reved the noise dissapears and it sounds fine, even the dump valve is dumping, the noise is only there on idle.

I disconnected the MAF (common problem on idling and cutting out), this time the noise remained but she did not cut out

I have checked everything i can, Getting a spark on all 5 cylinders, the injectors are working fine. No tears or holes in any boost or vacuum pipes. I wont have a code reader till Tuesday which might help, the injector light came on indicating a error is logged in the ecu. Before i get it to a garage next week anyone have any ideas?? Timing belt jump maybe? My prime suspect is the cam phase sensor but if it was gone the engine should not start. Alternatively the timing belt jumped a tooth or two, but i find that highly unlikely, and being a coop getting to the belt and pulleys to check is a few hours work on it's own. thanks in advance and sorry for the dual posting.

What sort of service did you do? As in an oil change etc?
