I know soccer isn't supposed to be allowed on AH's, but if you can't discuss the greatest sporting spectacle in the world, then it simply goes against what AH's is all about i.e. discussing popular topics in a pub like environment (hence the name After Hours).

I stole this from another thread, only posted a few days ago in the feedback forum..

in regards After Hours, where he described it as a pub, where people stand in different groups talking about different things, sometimes inspiring other conversations, people moving from one group to another, and people rarely remember what they were talking about the day before.

If you can't talk about the most popular sport and sporting event in the world, then I just don't know. I don't mean weekly soccer threads, because they would only take over the forum, but Jesus H, this is the World Cup.

Anyway, we really should be in South Africa, and Henry is a b****ks and all that (not really). I also think Argentina won't get out of their group (even with the best player in the world), because Maradona is the worst manager since Steve Staunton. He forgot to bring a right-back with him to South Africa. LOL.

I'm going with Spain.

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to one thread for World Cup stuff.

There well be many talking points re; the World Cup, not just the actual soccer.

The thing is, there would be fights on the thread, big ones.

When England play, when France play - there will be differing opinions and football does tend to bring out the worst in folks and they can never seem to agree to disagree.

I include my self in that by the way.

Most posters aren't subscribed to the soccer forum because you have to "apply" for permission; but nearly everyone has an interest in The World Cup. I see no reason for it being locked.

Laughing at all the haters. Greatest sport in the world. Greatest tournament in the world. Looking forward to the start on Friday and only disappointed that Ireland aren't in it. Should be a great 4 weeks or so regardless.
