Call for short and feature-length scripts for the Bechdel Test Project

Shining Eyes Productions is embarking on an exciting new project. We’re looking for short and feature-length scripts that pass the Bechdel Test. This means that the script must have:

    1. At least two named female characters in it
    2. Who talk to each other
    3. About something besides a man!

Sounds easy, right? So, you’d think that most movies would pass this simple test and yet only 35 out of IMDB’s Top 250 films passed!

The goal of this project is NOT to create feminist propaganda; it’s to create new films of the highest standard that also happen to have great female characters in them.

We at Shining Eyes also think it would be interesting and fun to add another element to this project. The majority of aspiring actors in Ireland are women in their 20s or 30s so we’d also like to see at least one of the lead characters in your script being a woman in this age-group.

So, if this project interests you, dig up a script you’ve already written that fits these criteria, or write a new one and send it in to us, together with a short synopsis of the script’s plot, at:

    by 5pm on Monday 5th July 2010.

While we prefer to get finished scripts by this time, if you have a brilliant script idea that you think would be perfect for this project, please send us what you’ve written so far, together with the script’s synopsis by 5pm on Monday 5th July 2010.
