Those Corolla's are a classic. A good car, easily fixed and reliable.

A couple I know recently fell on very hard times as both lost their jobs. One had a company car returned, and the other's was handed back because the HP could not be afforded. A neighbour of theirs had a relative who had one of those Corolla's which was broken into and appeared wrecked. The owner gave the car to the couple in the hope they could use it.

I got all of the bits needed from a dismantlers (dash surround, quarter window, and rear hub) for a few quid and fitted them FOC. The couple got the car NCT tested and lo and behold, it passed first go!! They brought the car back the following week and I gave it service and a timing belt. I can't see why they won't get another few years out of it. It's new owner remarked that despite its age, it drives great and is more economical than either of the two cars they no longer have.

There's a lot to be said for cars like those Corolla's, and that I reckon is why there is still a demand for good second hand ones ;)

They are a great little car alright, loved by farmers and taxi drivers.

They're grand cars, horrible to look at but more reliable then a lot of newer cars.
