Anyone know how to change h/light VW Passat

As the title says. I know I need to remove the lamp just don't know how to get the bloody thing outta the car. I'm gettin as far as removing the screws and having the lamp move about just can't seem to manoeuvre it out. Is there something else I need to remove besides the 4 screws holding the lamp it in place? It's a 2001 Passat. Thanks

If it's like most other cars, there will be a hole beside the inside of the lamp that houses a bolt, holding the lamp in.

The lamp will not come out without partially removing the front bumper
Cant remember if the upper bumper reinforcement (fibreglass) also needs to be removed
you'll see when you pop off the bumper

You dont need to remove the headlight to change the bulbs on a 2001 Passat. And its nuts for someone to suggest removing the front bumper to replace a common item such as a bulb!


Passengers Side: Remove the plastic cover over the power steering reservoir. It is held by two clips over the collar, remove the rubber cover over the back of the headlight housing, this will expose the back of the headlight. There is a clip that holds in the bulb remove it. and unplug the bulb. Replace taking care not to handle the glass filiment when replacing. Assembly is the reverse of what is described above.


Drivers Side: Remove the ducting that connects the the air box. Its held in place with 3 screws. This will provide neccessary access. The rest is the same as above.

Bulb?? Did someone mention a bulb??

If its only a bulb then dont remove the bumper unless its a renault modus.
To me a bulb is a bulb and a lamp is a housing with the purpose of generating light.
Apologies if your bumper is off but only the bulb is gone

Thank f*ck I put off doing it until tomorrow! Lol yeah it's the bulb I wanted to get at.. Some eejit I am after that lol :P Cheers ngnl, saved me a lot of hassle there :pac:
