Well I've seen this stuff being sold in some chemists around Cork and also in Tk Maxx.

They also have these colours in semi and demi permanent not sure if it's any good! But the highlighting ones come with a brush, cap with holes and a pointing thing(sorry no idea what to call it) to pull the hair through the cap...

Depends on the colour of her hair aswell! If it's quite bright you could use Stargazer which I'm pretty sure is in most chemists or if you'd shop online Manic Panic or Special Effects are supposed to be good!

You can get little spray in cans of pink in boots. They're not hard to find. :)

Don't use a cap and hook, it destroys hair!

Your best bet is to get some powder bleach/toner in a place such as TerriSales in Abbey Street or in Superdrug (Santry, Tallaght). Separate the streak wanted from the rest of the hair, bleach, wrap it in foil. After bleaching, use a semi-permanent dye such as Crazy Color (TerriSales) or Stargazer (Stargazer REALLY isn't very good though!).

If you want an easier option, Superdrug does a BeautyUK streaking kit for about 6 euro. It's available in hot pink, and basically the toner is mixed in with the dye so you don't have to bleach separately. I did my whole head in bright red with a few packs of this when I was 18 and it worked out very well!

I buy my hair dye online, because its so much cheaper. Smart Colour Dyes can be bought in loads of chemists, but they're quite expensive compared to the prices on the site. Another problem I've had with them is that the colour doesn't stay vibrant very long, and there isn't allot of choice.:(

Now I use Directions by La Riche. It comes in a little tub, which is perfect if you don't want to use it all in one go, and there are loads of different colours to choose from like Flamingo Pink and Lagoon Blue. You can't buy it off the site but you can get it for really cheap on ebay.ie.:p

My advice would be to get two tubs of directions and a bottle of cool blonde highlights from smart colour. You will have to lighten the hair you dye, or it wont take the colour.

This site is a great help for any dying tips you might need:

Good luck dying, and I hope your daughter loves her new hair!

To add to what the last poster said, you can get Directions Dye in Asha (a goth shop) in Stephen's Green Shopping Center.

If you DO decide to buy online, try SFX hairdye, it is absolutely BRILLIANT. If you can't find that, Manic Panic is better than Directions, Stargazer and Crazy Color.

I've had my hair blue, green, pink every colour under the rainbow. I went to a hairdresser because in order to get those colours you need to bleach your hair (if you have dark hair) and then put in something like Jeans Color Hair Dye which comes out amazing. Although the more intense the colour the quicker it fades. Ask the hairdresser to bring some home to "top up" colour at home.

I would be wary at colouring myself. At least with a hairdresser you get a decent conditioning treatment afterwards. It's alot of hassle to maintain as well.

    Good luck OP!

i think New Look now also sells stargazer hair dye so it might be handier to pick it up than order online.
Stargazer's magenta and royal blue are both nice [and can beeasily mixed for nice purple shades too], they're nice and safe [wont burn your hands or anything!] and while some people dont think stargazer lasts great, the magenta has always lasted well for me.

Or why not just get a pink or blue clip in hair strand? that way if you need her to look respectable it can be done in seconds :D
My 11 year old sister wants the same so i'm just getting a clip in when summer starts - that way you don't have to worry about it when school comes around

Dont use crazy colour. It dyes everything permanently red. shower curtain, towels, surfaces, hands etc. Just avoid.

Do the lightner from terrisales as suggested and some jeans colour. Or try Swarzkopf XXL. Im not sure what colours they carry though

A lot of the colours punky, manic panic, la riche, crazy colour etc all bleed like crazy and are very neon opaque.

i *wrecked* a really expensive cream handbag with dye transference before from those colours. not to mention, pillows, shower, phone etc...

    your best bet is to get the hair bleached first yourself with quick blue/30 vol developer then go over it with some special effects dye, i've been using an appleseed sized blob of atomic pink mixed with my conditioner for years now, it's very good, doesn't bleed and lasts until my roots need touching up again. turns out like this;

the magenta has always lasted well for me.
so magenta has more pull then,eh? i *loved* their baby pink, it was a perfect colour for around a week, the constant dying got to me though.

If you can find it, Special Effects is by far the best brand for weird hair colours. I've used a good few of the Stargazer colours and had good and bad experiences. The Magenta is fantastic, comes out really well over light/bleached hair and lasts maybe a month. Tropical green is great too. I used on of their purples (not the darkest one) over bleached hair and it went grey so I really don't advise it! I've also never been able to get their blues to take in my hair, but magenta mixed with tropical green gives a vaguely blue colour.

Tell her to go for clip-in strands instead!

Vibrant colours fade really badly and look crap after a few washes! With clip in strands she can put in as many or as little as she wants, change colours frequently, change he positioning and the colours will always be vibrant and new looking.

If shes worried about them falling out while shes wearing them jus backcomb he hair at the root with a bit of hairspray and then attatch them and they will hold (I've often worn a full head of clip-in extensions without any problem!).

I would recommend goin for human hair extensions as the synthetic ones look like barbie hair..if you in the dublin area hairspray in dundrum town centre probably have the best selection but you can get extensions everwhere these days and you'll find them on-line easily!

Hair extensions are great fun!!.enjoy! :)
