I'm looking at changing broadband providers to UPC and they do not offer the phone service in our area. It so happens that neither myself or my wife use our land phone anyway - it's always our mobiles.

So, I'm looking at getting a VOIP option. I had a look on the Blueface website and saw they have a plan for €9.99 p\m. Is this the cheapest out there? I'd be happy with no included credit.

Any recommendation of a phone? At home I have a Netgear WNR3500 wireless router (that has a QOS setting). I'm hoping that there is a wireless phone that can connect to this. Any suggestions?

    Thanks :)

Blueface also do a PAYG account which gives you a non-geographical number 076xxxxxxx ...... with a minimum payment of €5 and no need to pay more until it is used.

IMO, the best arrangement available for someone who does not NEED a geo number.

+1 for Blueface. You can pay yearly and get it cheaper.

Thanks for the info guys - I found the PAYG info on the Blueface website :)

Now all i need is the phone - I'll probably pop for the Siemens.

Are any of these phones wireless? http://www.blueface.ie/helpandadvice/specifications.aspx

When I say wireless, I mean can they connect to my WiFi network at home?

Under the category IP & USB phones, the Futiro Luna is connected via USB on a computer, all the others need to be connected to the Internet with a proper network cable (RJ45).
At Blueface we currently don't sell any WiFi phone.
Some of the phones have base and wireless handsets (the Siemens Gigaset series for example) that may do the job for you....

Don't hesitate to call this office if you have queries : 0818 259 500

Thanks Johnboy1951, JDxtra for the recommendation, btw.

    Hi BlueFace,

Just wondering if you could answer me a few questions, can't seem to find info on the Pay As You Go account on your site. With a Pay As You Go what are the charges for calling Irish mobile's? Are there peak and off peak costs? What is the cost for calling landlines? Are there peak and off peak costs? With pay as you go do I recieve a number which can be called back? What are the costs of calling this number? How much would it cost from a landline to call this number? How much would it cost to call this number from a mobile? Is it possible to have calls forwared to mobiles when away from my computer? How much would this cost?

    Thanks
    T.

    Hello,

Regarding our pay as you go you can check this page : Pay as you go
An 076 number is allocated to you upon sign up. That's an Irish VoIP number. You can receive calls from any phone on this number. Calling an 076 number depends on the callee's provider. For Eircoms, call costs are here - http://www.eircom.ie/About/Activities/Sn1_pt2.pdf

    5.17c inc vat pm peak
    1.32c inc vat pm off-peak/weekend
5.95c inc vat call set-up fee

Note that you also get a Blueface number, that allows any other Blueface customer to call for free.

Our rates are displayed on our website http://www.blueface.ie/rates/rates.aspx (type : Ireland, in the search box to save time).
On that page you can see in details how Pay as you go customers are charged. There are peak and off peak rates for some destinations.

It's possible to get your number forwarded to a mobile when your Blueface phone is not available, you're charged for the call between Blueface and the mobile. The rate is on our rate page.

Let me know should you have any further query

Hi Guillaume. Thanks for the response - I appreciate the help.

I have the option of getting a surplus Seimens Optipoint WL2 professional phone from work - these are connected through WiFi on our work network.

Here is some further information -
    http://www.enabling-comms.co.uk/download-area/siemens-user-guide/OptiPoint%20WL2%20Wireless%20Handset%20Brochure.pdf

From what I can see, there will be no problem connecting to my home WiFi (I've already done this), but how do I login to Blueface?

    Thanks

This phone handles 'SIP' which is the technology we use, so it should work fine with our services.

To configure it with Blueface, I'm pretty sure there will be a nice web GUI.

The main parameters you'll need from us is the SIP proxy : sip.blueface.ie, your username and password. You'll get all that upon sign up within a "welcome email".

If you look at any of our phone configuration guide, on our website, you'll see explanations about all basic settings.

Note that you also get a Blueface number, that allows any other Blueface customer to call for free.

I would point out to anyone reading, that the Blueface SIP number should be able to be used by any SIP user with a service from any SIP provider, at no cost, simply by calling the SIP number provided and not the 076 number.
