i have an advent 4211 and connecting to a samsung LCD TV. i have a VGA to RGB cable to get from netbook to the TV. The TV seems to be recognising there is an input coming in as it allows me to choose the PC connection when i have the cable hooked up between them (it doesnt have this option available unless there is an input detected).

The TV is just showing "check signal cable" message on the screen. any ideas as to what can do? have tried to get this sorted in the past and really wanna get it done this time.

I'm pretty sure there's a fn button to switch the output to the vga out on the laptop. Have you pressed that?

have you gone into the display properties by right clicking on your desktop and cloning your display with main?

have you tried cycling through the fn+f2 a few times as there are a couple of different options.

does it work vga to vga?

    see here http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/50554-30-connecting-hdtv-computerhere
Set refresh rate to 60mhz,resolution to 720x576 or 1024x768.
The resolution you have is like 1200x1000 which may be out of range .
What model tv is it,eg sony 520lx .
60mhz is the recommended refresh rate for pc to hdtv, s.
works fine on my tv on these settings.

its a samsung LE32B450 LCD TV. the refresh rate is at 60Hz and the resolution is 1024 x 600 and tried dropping it to 800 x 600.

I have cloned the screen and tried as extended desktop i think that what it was.

Also think i will pick up a VGA to VGA connection and see if that sorts it.

i have the LE32B550 model and i am using a vga - vga cable
you'll also need an audio cable to connect the sound, it goes into the PC/DVI Audio in jack
