What's the big deal with these things? I keep hearing girls raving about them  there's a stall in Liffey Valley that I think sells them and tbh I think they look a little tacky :o

I just had a look online at "the real thing" and they're astronomically priced  €350 for one little charm?? WTF

They do look tacky, just another silly fashion whim for the lemmings with more money than sense. You can get really lovely charm bracelets sometimes but it's been a while since I've seen one.

They're popular for 21st gifts. I wouldn't wear one personally. An average charm costs €20-40 I think. I think its a danish company. They've become really popular in the past couple of years I've noticed.

There must be 2 different ranges so, check out the prices here http://www.pandora-jewelry.com/

Prices depend on whether you are buying gold or sterling silver. Silver obviously being a lot cheaper.

I don't see the big deal,I love charm braclets but these do look tacky enough alright!

Well yes thats the high end but if you're buying someone a charm the average priced ones are in that 20-40 range. Buying a charm for that much is ridiculous i think when you could get a lovely necklace or other item of jewelry for that price.

Have just a 'normal' charm bracelet myself - charms hang off links on the bracelt. i prefer it myself. You can find more charms for them and the tend to look nicer imo. Charms can be cheaper too

I prefer the chain ones with loads of little charms hanging off it. Not big into the pandora things

lol eh none taken, I guess you're more into the pandora ones because they're more expensive. Thats always a good reason to like something.

I don't get them either. I like the idea behind charm bracelets, but I don't get all the fuss with the Pandora ones. I don't even think they look that nice, and they're so expensive!

I got a Pandora for my graduation and Christmas present. Personally, I think they are a lovely present. A modern version to the traditional charm bracelet which are lovely too. I like the way someone can give you a present of a charm and they can all lock together, with a modern twist.

I agree some of the prices are so ridiculous but there seems to be "season charms" or something. These charms must be a fad for a certain amount of time them they are sold off at a cheaper price later.

I think they're nice but since everyones wearing them it puts me off. My dad started my sister on one, its a great idea for him because its making gifts for her easier for him to pick.

My husband bought me a present of a pandora for our wedding anniversary recently, and I think it was a lovely present!

I only have 2 charms on it at the moment, one from my husband and one from my daugher, as the slogan goes, every charm tells a story and the charms were chosen with thought.

I love my pandora, I like the thought that you can style it however you choose, add or take away the charms on a daily basis.

Some people may consider them tacky, but I love mine.

I notice how everyone is using the charms are an easy present and tell a story point but surely that can be done with a normal charm bracelet too?

For me the pandora bracelet is nice and strong, I sleep with it on. The charms are neat and dont dangle, where I have another charm bracelet which dangles, gets caught in my clothes. And that I wouldnt be able to sleep with it on.

It is not an expense thing, I bought my daughter a link charm bracelet recently "Fields" own brand and her charms are more expensive than the pandora ones. the bracelet was cheaper though,

I think the design applies to younger individuals, I've seen other charm company's goods and generally get a kiddy feel from them. Charm bracelets are lovely but they're really only special if they come as gifts in my mind anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭Beffy

Not mad about Pandora bracelets, much prefer my Links one.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,160 ✭✭✭✭banshee_bones

Prefer the pandora to regular "charm" bracelet because they slide onto the bracelet rather than hang off. Got all mine as presents so have about 6 or 7 now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91 ✭✭chenguin

I prefer the pandora ones as they dont hang off. The ones that hang tend to get caught in everything...so annoying.
Sometimes I dont think they look that nice but I guess it really depends on how/what charms you put on the barcelet. That can be a problem with different people buying you charms as gifts.

Anyone know where you can get lookalikes for half the price? Would like to get a pandora like bracelet but not prepared to pay the money for the real one as it's very expensive!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,597 ✭✭✭anniehoo

I have a Pandora bracelet and tbh had never heard of them until i was given one for my birthday last year. I love it and its only half filled. Im not a "girly girl" when it comes to jewellery so Pandora charms are ideal for me.Theyre brilliant for everyday wear i.e not blingy (which i hate) so i suppose each to their own.

My friends and family have loved buying me charms for it and tbh it means more to me that theyve spent time picking out the ones they know id like e.g. dog and cat(love animals), clown (bit of a messer),birthday box (my 30th) and have added ones from places ive been since then.

Look at post 19, there is a link for newbridge silverware, they do 4 types of Pandora lookalike bracelets for 60-65 euro. They are sold in carraig Donn and possibly Shaw's.

i really dont like them. too bulky for me. i like more dainter (sp) jewellery. My friend has one and some of the charms look really kiddish. not for me at all

anyone bought charm bracelets off a website called charms.ie?
Bracelets and charms on it are very similar looking to the real pandora bracelets?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,562 ✭✭✭connundrum

Looked at the pandora stuff as an idea for a forthcoming gift, but saw it as more a flash in the pan/Chloe handbag kind of trend.

I think I'll be sticking with the idea of a Tiffany charm bracelet for the moment :)

Pandora bracelets can look gorgeous with nice charms, but I just think the price for what you're getting is ridiculous. My friend has had her pandora bracelet for less than a year and she has already spent close to 400euro on her bracelet I think.
I mean I do think they are pretty, I just think the amount it adds up to in the end could be spent on something much nicer. (Like a charm bracelet from Tifanny's as mentioned above.)

But I'm not dissing Pandora bracelets, just think they're too pricey.

:( tacky! I love my pandora bracelets, I now have two filled, husband bought me one with loads of baby related charms when I had our son. The other I have been filling myself. As i have a uniform in work, I have matched it to that.
It does sicken me that you can get the copy charms on ebay (100 for a fiver) but i know that mine are real, and chosen with thought. And I agree that some charms you can get are pure tack. But I think mine are all lovely.

I also have the other one that the charms dangle from, but only have 3 charms for that, but it has no real special meaning so maybe thats why I prefer the other ones.

    Ah crap, tacky....

Probably too late now but if you're still looking Argento in Blanchardstown S.C. do a range called Mian.

They're brilliant & the same quality as Pandora but half the price!

Lots of charms & murano beads...I love them!:o

And the bracelets are only €30!! Excellent quality - 925 silver.

But only available in Blanchardstown with a few left in the stall in Liffey Valley.

I found some gorge turquoise charms in argos from 26euro. Not a hope im paying all that money on jewellery for pandora

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 240 ✭✭elbee

They're not to my taste but I think tacky is going a bit far. If they suit someone's look and the charms are well-chosen, they look nice. The silver charms look better to me than the coloured ones, but if the coloured ones match, I like them.

I have a Links sweetie bracelet that I got as a graduation present. I only wear one charm on it because I like how that looks, but then I like very small and subtle jewellery. It depends what you like!

I love these threads, it just goes to show how everyone's taste is different :)

I used to really dislike the Pandora brcelets but have seen some really nice tasteful ones on friends lately with just silver charms and they look beautiful. Also to be honest work very well for everyday wear as don't get caught in clothes.

I have a Thomas Sabo one that I got a number of years ago and totally love it and wear it a lot, I also got a beautiful Tiffany one from my husband 2 Christmas ago which is my pride and joy but as my job is very hands on do not wear it for work in case in gets broken. Totally love it. but it and the charms are costly.

The Thomas Sabo ones are lovely but some of the charms do catch in clothes.

My mum has a beautiful od gold one which my Dad gave her that she calls her love story, it is full to the brim of charms and each has a story behind it. That is what both of my bracelets mean to me, a love story.

Everyone likes something different and it ould be a boring world if we all went for the same.
