Hello...did a search on this topic but didnt find anything! About 10 girls are thinking of heading over for a cheap few days in July. Would love feedback of hostels to stay in, places to go and things to do from people who have been before! Anywhere you would definitley go back to and also places you would avoid?? Any must sees or places that are worth a visit (including pubs and clubsbiggrin.gif) Thanks !

The TripAdvisor Forum Edinburgh is chock-a-block with useful information. 10 girls = 10 different opinions.

Avoid Jurys Inn absolutely appaling service. I was there with 7 friends for a hen party and they treated us like c**p. So rude, we had 18 different room keys (each time we came home the code for the hotel room door had be changed and we needed new cards. This happened at 4am) Buy crisps etc in shops as there is no takeaway or McDs open after the clubs close and u will be starving

oh AB10 good advice! We think we've decided on a hostel on Princes St and we figure either two or three nights will be plenty so really want to make the most of the short time we'll have there!

Checked out trip advisor too and loads of good stuff there too !

    Any other advice appreciated:D

If you've got a decent hostel on Princes St thats a great location for everything. Your best bet if you're over for two or three nights is to do George St one night. Try All Bar One or 99 Hanover St for a few drinks at the beginning of the night, then move to Le Monde and on to Tiger Lily or Candy bar for cocktails and the trendy crowd. Finish up in a club such as Opal Lounge or if you want mayhem go to Garibaldis.

Do the Old town another night, 10 Irish girls are going to end up in the 3 sisters, and then the pubs in the grassmarkets but its not really my scene. If you want good live music try Whistlebinkies but if you just want drink promos and a laugh go to Espionage.

As AB10 said there is nowhere in town to get food after a club so get get stuff for when you get back. Loads of restaurants are doing food deals, especially early birds 2 for 1 offers, check http://www.list.co.uk/places/restaurants/budget/what:Edinburgh/ for some good suggestions.

During the day if you aren't shopping head down to Portobello beach if the weather is good, or the Shore at Leith for some cool pubs and cafes. Edinburgh is easy to get around, loads of buses go everywhere and taxis aren't too expensive.

Stayed in Caledonian backpackers which was just off Princes street. It's pretty cheap but a bit of a hole. Old and not that nice overall really. Don't have much to compare it with but if I was heading back I wouldn't go there again.

Just wanted to give you a heads up anyway in case that was the one you were thinking of.

St. Christophers Inn is the only place to be... drinks promo's in Belushi's every night... food is gorgeous. Discounts for people staying in hostel.
