Specifically for marathon running. Back doing doubles after the injury and Im finding I need a fair bit of grub to keep going during the day. The problem is a lot of its crap food like sports bars, sports drinks etc Not crazy about this stuff(have you ever seen a pro-cyclists teeth?)so Im looking to create a meal plan that'll give me the energy I need but keep the junk to a minimum. Plus its gotta go down easy, avoid stomach cramps and having to leg it into bushes half way through a run.

So anybody know of any nutionists who'd really know their stuff when it comes to marathon running/endurance sports?
    Thanks

I talked to a clinical nutritionist with 'a special interest in sports nutrition' a couple of months ago and felt like screaming at her. She seemed to think that fat is a bad thing, thought I should eat more bread, recommended SUGAR in my tea...

Thank god I didn't pay her.

http://www.optimumnutrition4sport.com/index.html these guys are helping out the lads doing the 32 marathon challenge and seem to be quite good. Though they seem to be based in the UK.

Woddle did you end up seeing anyone?

Try Vinny Mulvey maybe. If you want advice on nutrition for marathon training, I'd rather get it from somebody qualified who has experienced the effort themselves.

Where are my manners! Thanks for the replies Folks. Still living off sports bars at the moment. Bad habits being formed. Dont want to go the way of Stephen Roche when I retire. Definitely diet is playing an adverse role in my training though. Feel more sluggish and legs not as light as they were when not eating processed sports targeted crap.
Its hard to know whos suitable, there are a lot of nutrionists/dieticians out there who claim to be experts on sportsnutrition. But Im not sure many of them really know their stuff when it comes to marathon running. Vinny mulvey's site looks interesting.
    Thanks again

Runireland have set up an "ask the nutritionist" section on their forum, it might be worth asking there to see what kind of reply you get.
