iphone 3gs speaker interference gone nuts

For the last few days the buzzing/crackling has gone crazy. It used to happen every hour or two, now its every 30 seconds, to the point where I cant leave it on my desk.
Its killing my battery, in 7hrs last night the battery dropped 30%, normally it'd be 10%. I've let the battery run completely dead and charged it fully again. Im using a jailbroken phone running 3.1.2 and the most up to date carrier settings.
Edge and wifi are on, 3g is off. Changing these settings does nothing.
The only app i've installed recently is MyWi but I dont see how this would affect it.

Anyone know what the fack is going on?

the interference is caused by your phone either taking a call, making a call or transferring data to the network. Usually during the data burst as the connection is made. eg just before the call is connected. The only way to stop the interference is to put a shield between your phone and the speakers, but that won't stop the root cause.

Since your battery life is way down it appears it is some data transfer that is happening every 30 secs. I'd check your online bill asap to see what the data is.

To confirm it's that, disable your apn settings altogether as a starting point to see if it stops the problem. It'll confirm it's data.

Also I'd uninstall any apps you added just before the problem started, even if you think they aren't the cause. MyWi is that hotspot app? It could easily be the problem if it's doing some kind of constant polling broadcast.

Thanks, uninstalled mywi and it did nothing, Then I remembered installing some 3rd party crap that was meant to unlock tethering but it didn't work. Got rid of that and its fine now.
