I'm near Southern Road, don't get recycling bags(I'd have to pay a few hundred for some reason) and was wondering where the nearest place was to take my recycling.

The few hundred, I think is part of the yearly fee from the council. If you are on a low income then you can apply for a waiver. Proof of income must be documented and provided to apply for said waiver.

This means bags are delivered to your door twice a year plus if your a first time suscriber to the service you get a general waste bin which is collected once you pay for a 5euro tag that goes on the bin. You can buy the tag in most local shops or garages.

I have heard 'rumour' that you can buy recycle bags for 50c each but I am not sure about that i.e. 'rumour'.

Also any glass products must be taken to recycling bins around the area.

You are better off getting a service from a private operator. You can get a tag a bin system in cork city for a €50 standing charge for the year and the tags cost €8 for waste and €4 for recycling. That is for wheelie bins of both not just bags.

Thats nearly a quarter of the price. Cork City Council charges are exhorbitant

I don't know of any recycling centre in Cork City.

PM me if you want a contact details for that service.

I'm not sure how much longer I'll be in my current residence so I don't want to pay the money for a year(I hope to be gone by the winter anyway); if it was possible just to buy the bags seperate that'd be great.

That should just be a few minutes down the road, I could probably make that if I filled up a rucksack.
