I have a Philips 37PFL5522D TV with built in DVB-T Tuner. Will this digital tuner pick up any stations in Ireland as all the posts I have read are about MPEG4?

You will only get sound on the Irish dtt transmissions, but you may be able to pick up UK dtt from ni or Wales depending on your location.
Philips sets ending in d have mpeg2 tuners and sets ending in h have mpeg2 & 4 tuners too.

I'm in Donegal, not sure if NI digital signal reaches this far, although I believe some of our analogue TV signals comes from Bridgend (in Donegal not Wales!)

If you can get the UK channels on analogue with a good strong signal, there is a decent chance you will pick up the UK dtt channels too. If not, maybe an aerial upgrade would do the trick.
